All travelers are picked up at Haneda or Narita International Airports and taken to Tokyo by high speed train service. You will check in at Keykyu ExInn Shinagawa hotel or similar. Then you will enjoy free time to take a first glimpse of Tokyo and explore the surroundings. It is also possible to exchange foreign currency at this hotel.

NIKKO
DAY

02

We will move to Nikko to visit the Tosho-gu shrine, a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site. Five structures at Tosho-gu are categorized as National Treasures of Japan. Then we will visit Nikko Edomura (Edo Wonderland), a little town built in Edo architectural style. Populated by natives who wear Edo traditional costume, the site is often filmed in Japanese productions.

Depending on the time left after visiting both places, we will visit additional points of interest, such as the Taiyuinbyo mausoleum, the beautiful Tamozawa Imperial Villa, the Nikko Botanical Garden, the Senjogahara Marshland, the Lake Chuzenji

Oshino hakkai

Visiting this lovely village and its neighborhood not only will make you feel that you are immersed in ancient Japan, but it will also blow your mind with a direct view of Mount Fuji. Surrounded by lakes and nature, you will spend the day in absolute relax with your fellow travelers.

Kanazawa
DAY

Upon arrival to this wonderful city, we will check in at ANA Crowne Plaza or similar and discover what this city has to offer.


Before the crowd takes hold of the place, you will be taken to the traditional streets of Higashichaya. You may feel the atmosphere of Edo period as you walk around the teahouses that flank these streets of the old town.


The Kenrokuen garden
, considered the best of Japan
, will follow. Take your time to enjoy this beautiful spot before heading to  Oyama shrine, where you will find a unique mixture of Japanese, Chinese and Dutch architecture. After this visit you will have free time to pick visits of you interest: the Crafts Museum, the History or Arts museums, the Ninja Temple and others. A second night visit to Higashichaya is more than recommendable!

Shirakawago
DAY

05

It is time to leave modern civilization behind and your arrival to the historical mountain village of Shirakawago will help. You will spend the day discovering every hidden corner of the amazing medieval farmhouses and its nearby Gokayama village. When the night falls, you will experience how it feels to sleep over in a gasshō-style house. If you wear a real kimono in Shirakawago, you will forge amazing memories really hard to forget!

Gujo Hachiman and Takayama
DAY

06

After breakfast we will visit Gujo Hachiman, a charming riverside town anchored in the past. Besides its wonderful streets, we will also be able to check its castle, the Jiozenji zen temple and even a limestone cave called Otaki.


A bus will take the group to Takayama. After checking in at Takayama Ouan hotel or similar, we will visit its famous old town where you can purchase all sorts of traditional crafts, specially those made of wood. If the time allows, we will take a look at Hida Fold Village or the Higashiyama walk (specially recommended in autumn).

MATSUMOTO
DAY

07

After checking in at Hotel Montagne Matsumoto or similar, we will visit the impressive Matsumoto Castle. If you are lucky enough, the sakura cherry blossom trees will bloom around you as the castle opens its gate to you and your fellow travelers.


Nearby, we will walk around the ancient Nakamachi street, filled with plenty of traditional shops and old buildings. Here you may find items unlikely to be found anywhere else!

Narai, Magome and Tsumago
DAY

08

This is a very special day. You will be able to walk in three ancient gems of Japan in a row. The outstanding towns of Narai, Magome and Tsumago were part of the medieval Nakasendo trail between Kyoto and Tokyo. Once you complete this journey you will have a better idea of the life in Japan centuries ago: shogun noticeboards, wooden water mills, straw handcrafts, sunken hearths, entire streets made of wood...


You will stay overnight in Nagoya at Meitetsu Grand Hotel or similar.

KUMANO WONDERS
DAY

09

If you felt impress by the singularity of the Edo period on day 6, then get ready to be overwhelmed by the Japanese version of the 9th century. After checking in at Shingu UI Hotel or similar, we will visit the outstanding Nachi Taisha and its surroundings before heading to the world famous Kumano Hongū Taisha.

KOYASAN
DAY

10

Day 10 will be spent exploring the ancient Mount Koya with an unforgettable overnight stay at a Buddhist temple. Enjoy one of the most sacred places in Japan, enter a temple with a very interesting past, and contemplate the largest rock garden of Japan.


When the night falls, get yourself immersed in a natural hot spring that lies at the backyard of the temple where we will sleep over.

OSAKA
DAY

11

Before the sunrise we will observe the morning routines of the monks at the temple. Then, at dawn, we will make our way to Osaka.

This is a free day that you can spend visiting the countless spots of the city. Your flight back home may depart at any time during the day.
